Richard's love of farming began as a young boy on the family farm in British Columbia, Canada. He remembers seeing the cabbage and potatoes they grew stacked on grocery store shelves throughout the region. In his teens, the family moved and went into construction, roofing, and trucking. But he never lost his desire to return to farming.
In 2010, he started his own farm. Over the next 16 years, he managed 30+ acres, growing just about every kind of fruit and vegetable. He supplied farmers markets, served CSA members, and fed local families. He especially loved peaches and grapes. Though the rich sandy loam soils of the area meant he also specialized in root crops like carrots, beets, and potatoes. Ironically, his most profitable crops weren't for the dinner table at all—they were field corn for a fall corn maze and pumpkins for decorations!
Years of growing a wide variety of crops and training crew members taught Richard an important lesson. What we share should be practical, proven, and easy to understand. Every guide, video, and plan he shares is based on techniques that have been tested in real fields—not just researched online. His goal is to help backyard growers avoid costly mistakes, build confidence, and enjoy the satisfaction of harvesting healthy, productive plants for years to come.
